Common AC Problems We Fix

❄️

Not Cooling

Running but not keeping up, or blowing warm air. Common causes: low refrigerant, dirty condenser coils, failed compressor, or a refrigerant leak. We diagnose and address the root cause.

Tripping the Breaker

An AC that trips the breaker repeatedly usually has an electrical issue — a failing capacitor, a hard-starting compressor, or a wiring problem. This needs to be addressed promptly to prevent further damage.

🧊

Frozen Evaporator Coil

Ice forming on the indoor coil is usually caused by restricted airflow (dirty filter or blocked return) or low refrigerant. We thaw the coil, identify the cause, and fix it properly.

💧

Water Leaking Inside

Water dripping from the indoor air handler is almost always a clogged condensate drain line — a common issue in Georgia’s humid summers. We clear the drain and treat it to prevent algae buildup.

AC Repair vs. Replacement: Making the Right Call

Not every AC problem warrants replacement, but not every repair is worth doing either. A rough rule of thumb: if the repair cost exceeds 50% of the cost of a new system and the existing unit is over 10 years old, replacement is usually the smarter financial decision. Modern systems are significantly more efficient than units installed 10–15 years ago, and a new unit with a good efficiency rating will reduce your monthly cooling costs. If the unit is newer and the repair is straightforward, fixing it is the right call.

Compressor failures are the most expensive AC repair. A failed compressor on an older unit is almost always a replacement situation — the cost of compressor replacement approaches the cost of a new system, and the other components are equally old. We’ll tell you plainly where you stand and give you pricing on both options.

Brands We Service

We service all major residential HVAC brands including Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Rheem, Goodman, American Standard, York, Heil, Amana, and Bryant. If your brand isn’t listed, call us — we work on virtually all residential systems sold in the north Atlanta market.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AC stopped working. Can you come today?

Yes. AC repair is a priority call for us — a failed AC in a Georgia summer is a genuine hardship, especially for households with children or elderly family members. Call us at (770) 239-6628 and we’ll get there as quickly as possible. No emergency fees.

Why is my AC running but not cooling the house?

The most common reasons are: low refrigerant due to a leak, a dirty condenser coil that can’t release heat efficiently, a failing capacitor preventing the compressor from starting properly, or ductwork issues causing cooled air to escape before it reaches the living space. We diagnose the actual cause before recommending a repair.

How long does AC repair typically take?

Most standard repairs — capacitor replacement, refrigerant recharge, drain line clearing, contactor replacement — take 1–2 hours. More complex jobs like coil replacement take longer. We’ll give you a time estimate when we quote the repair.

Do you charge extra for weekend or evening AC calls?

No. Aaron Plumbing does not charge emergency or after-hours fees for HVAC service. The rate is the same regardless of when you call.
